**A story I'm reading

Currently I am reading a Lucius/Hermione story called Wizards Porn by Utopia over at AFFN.

It is pretty wonderful, and very well written. But the true Dramione fan in me cannot imagine Lucius anywhere near this yet... It just doesn't match.

I think it's because I've developed my own little pickiness when it comes to fanfiction, and I guess I should clear some of that up. Not the pickiness, but why I don't bother reading most stories, because in reality I start about 5 stories in order to get into 1. I guess that doesn't make sense. I will search all day for a story that passes my inspection. Then I will read it.

I guess these are my rules:

-Until recently, no WIP stories or single chaptered ones. It drives me nuts to get into a story that hasn't been updated in 2 years.
-No first person POV stories. I cannot read that way, the character whose POV I'm reading through is never really developed... Literally, I have started Dramione Award winners, but as soon as the 1st person thing is realized, I go back and look for something else.
Lucius/Hermione
-Time travel, I don't really understand the idea of Hermione going back and falling in love with a past character or something, like Voldemort/Tom Riddle or some senior Malfoy. Keep it in the current!
-A dumb, submissive Hermione. Like, I am growing into D/s fiction, but not so much the idea that Hermione is just waiting around for someone to do her. The Hermione in my mind is intelligent beyond belief.
-A dumb, old, sad, depressed, lonely Lucius is a no. That includes poor Azkaban-damaged Lucius. My Lucius, that I appreciate, is smart, clever, witty, and just plain gorgeous. He has impeccable manners, and can challenge Hermione in anything.
-I also cannot picture a threesome story with Lucius and Snape/Harry/Draco/ANYONE. Lucius just seems to be selfish.
-Any filthy Muggleborn/insane Death Eater pairing of Hermione/Lucius is just not going to catch my attention.
-Any super into the future fic, with a middle aged/menopausal/elderly Hermione is just freaky. Especially if she is a virgin with extremely low self esteem. I guess this falls into the Dramione category as well. Also, I believe in the age system of wizards, that they live to be a lot older than us Muggles. As described in Girl Talk by Snapes_Goddess, a wizards prime age is in the early hundreds...
Draco/Hermione/Blaise
-Well, Draco and Blaise have to be friends, like best friends.
-I hate a fluffy sweet Draco.... whiny like in A Dowry of a Single Galleon by Krissy. Don't get me wrong, that was a good story, but he was painfully out of character.
-An evil Death Eater Draco who is just raping Hermione. That is just dumb.
-Blaise is Italian to me. I've always pictured him as European, very endearing, and very generous. Not black. Ethnic, yes, European, yes, Tanned skin and thick curly hair, double yes. Don't get me wrong, I'm black myself, but Blaise Zabini is very Italian.
-I don't do the baby thing. Draco with kids, or Hermione with kids is just wrong, and ruins the entire development of their relationship with their pasts.

I guess I don't have too many limits on Dramione/Dramionaise pairings because most of them work out fine. I will add more as I look up a new story today. I'm sure I'll find plenty more.

I came across your journal and just felt the need to tell you about a story that you might feel inclined not to read at first but that might actually change your opinion about first person POV, if you give it a try. Personally, I am very reluctant to reading first person POV myself, however, this story was so thoroughly well thought out that it ended up becoming one of my favorites. It is The Fool, the Emperor, and the Hanged Man by moirasfate and can be found at aff or her personal live journal. Is a Dramione story, and I know it goes against your rules but give it a try you might end up liking it :)
And if not just disregard this post and pretend I never said anything!!

Love is...
